Does that seem impossible? Maybe you have tried dozens of diets and none of them worked. Or maybe you have lost weight before, but it always comes back. Maybe it is because every minute of your day is jam packed with obligations and you can never find the time to focus on your weight issue. Maybe working all day and being all things to all people leaves you exhausted with no energy to take care of yourself. Or maybe because you think that you should be smart enough to figure out your weight issue yourself, but it just is not happening.

I’m Helen Scott, PhD. I am an epidemiologist with over 20 years working in nutrition and public health on a global scale. I have spent 13 years in university studying the human mind and body. I have a Bachelor of Science in Life Sciences and an Honours Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Health from Queen’s University. I studied disease prevention and public health through Masters and Doctoral training in Epidemiology at the University of Toronto. I have worked all around the world on health & nutrition programs. Currently, I am a professor at the University of Toronto and am working at the World Health Organization.

And, I’m Garth Scott, a Math teacher in Ontario. My passion for teaching led me to complete a Masters in Education. I spend much of my spare time coaching sports, leading my players to win numerous Ontario high school and community championships in multiple sports. After being an All-Star football player in university, I battled weight gain for decades before losing 70 pounds and keeping it off using the tools that we want to teach you.

Garth and Helen have been married for 25 years. We are the parents of five wonderful kids. So, we can relate to standing with the fridge door open wondering what we could possibly have for dinner that would be ready in 10 minutes before we run out to soccer practice or violin lessons. We understand busy!

How can we help you?

A few years ago, Helen suffered a concussion that literally knocked her out of life for almost 18 months. What was fascinating to us was that she used some of the same tools to recover from a brain injury as she had been studying in the top weight loss programs. And, they were the same tools that Garth had used to lose 70 pounds and keep it off.

Through her healing journey, Helen discovered weight loss and life coaching through The Life Coach School. This program took everything that she had learned about psychology, nutrition, and health and gave us the pedagogical tools to teach it to you. Helen is now a Master Certified Life and Weight Loss coach helping you achieve your weight and health goals!

Why do we coach?

As your weight loss and life coach, we will not spend our time together agreeing with you and telling you what to do. We also don’t give medical advice. What we do is create a space for you to uncover the baggage that is manifesting itself as fat on your body. Then, we will work through all of it. You will be amazed that weight loss is pretty much effortless once you have worked through all the thoughts that are holding you back.
